In the second episode of Let's Talk, the Singapore Democrats present writer and social activist Ms Constance Singam. Ms Singam is a longtime advocate of women's rights and was the president of the Association for Women's Action and Research (AWARE).

    If truth be told, a singular perspective by a cosmopolitan blogger, if valued against 365 perspectives of a nation-centred blogger, can far outweigh the latter. But it's the latter who makes sense to those who can't make sense of reality from without the nation-state. In this, recognition afforded the nation-centred blogger becomes nothing more than a paralympics for want of cosmopolitan competition.

    That may not make one feel good, but in acknowledging it, one is in a better position to discern it.
